Marius, a South African, and Jodi, an American, met in 2004 in South Africa and it was love from the first cup of coffee. The 2 were married in Georgia in 2005 where they worked for the next 3 years.
Marius’s background was in youth ministry and he was trained in physical theatre. Jodi’s passion and training were singing and missions. In 2008, they moved to Swaziland, Africa where they worked with AIDS orphans. Marius was AIM’s director of short-term teams, and the two facilitated and hosted teams, helped provide and deliver food to local care points where the orphans are fed daily, and helped mentor AIM’s short-term leaders. Marius and Jodi added a new member to their family in 2009, when their baby girl, Emi Adison, was born.
In 2011 Marius and Jodi are joining forces with Global Challenge in South Africa to `’go global`’ with their care of orphans and other poverty-stricken vulnerable children. Marius will be helping with GCEX’s 35+ staff, as well as training mission participants. Jodi will be helping to serve at a local care center for orphans and refugee children as well as developing a Biblical curriculum for the trainees.
Marius and Jodi are proud to be working through SERV Ministries International, their partners from the States, and joining forces with Global Challenge Expeditions, on the ground in South Africa. SERV works in Kenya, Mexico, and soon in South Africa. Global Challenge works in over 32 countries, training young leaders to serve long-term by exposing them to different ministries and missionaries throughout the world. They serve the poor, the vulnerable, the widows and orphans. While GCEX is developing young people, they are also serving locally. In 2009 GCEX opened a private high school where 1/3 of the students are local orphans receiving scholarships. Their vision is to see these orphans empowered to one day themselves be the ones traveling globally to share the good news and serve other orphans. We are so happy to be a part of this!
